Musical Theatre Expert
Holly Kelly is a DC-based Musical Theatre Professional who completed her B.A. in Vocal Performance and Theatre Arts (double major) at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Holly studied Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Professor Lynn Helding, a renowned vocologist, and as a result, takes particular interest in vocal science.
Holly continues to study voice professionally with DC Theatre favorites, such as Erin Gardiner and Tracy Lynn Olivera. She is a graduate of the Overtures Institute, a Musical Theatre Intensive at the acclaimed Signature Theatre in Shirlington, VA, where she was awarded the Andrew A. Isen Prize for Young Artists.
She is also a proud alumna of the "National Music Theatre Institute' at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, where she studied acting, singing, directing, playwriting, book writing, and composition from many of today’s top Broadway performers, most notably Alex Gemignani (Carousel, Hamilton in Chicago, Violet and more) and Jeff Bowen (composer of [title of show] and Now. Recent onstage credits include Rapunzel in Creative Cauldron’s Into the Woods, ‘Phoebe’ in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, ‘Miss Dorothy’ in Thoroughly Modern Millie, 'Olive Ostrovsky’ in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and 'Laurey’ in Oklahoma! She dabbles in directing, most recently assisting some amazing young artists in Oakton High School's productions of Titanic, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Catch Me If You Can.
Holly has taught 5th and 6th Grade Drama at Flint Hill School in Vienna, VA. In addition, she is the owner and lead teacher for Blue Feather Music Studio, where she teaches private piano and voice. She has provided instruction and/or production assistance to the Oakton HS Performing Arts, South Lakes HS Choral Department, W.T. Woodson HS Performing Arts, The Green Hedges School, Herndon HS Summer Grand, and NextStop Theatre Company.
She also assistant directed The Arlington Players’ production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which won 8 “Washington Area Theatre Community Honors, (WATCH Awards, which honor the best of local community theater). Holly was named a DCMTA 2018 Staff Favorite: Outstanding Performance in a Community Theater Production for her performance of Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Holly enjoys telling stories that utilize music on stage in interesting ways and therefore spends too many hours thinking about diegetic sound. When she's not making art, she's learning about wine and has worked at several local wineries and breweries in the Virginia area.
